On May 4, fifteen Pollinators converged on the Flatbush Malls for an intense two-hour Green Team Saturday that was highlighted by hanging new signs that recognize the South Midwood Pollinators care of the Glenwood Road malls. Installed on the West Mall at E. 21st Street and the East Mall at E. 23rd Street, the signs were designed by John Stislow, owner of Stislow Desgn, a South Midwood resident and long-time Pollinator.

The volunteers also got a boost from surprise drop-ins by Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn and NYC Council Member Farah Lewis, who joined the crew for work, conversation about financial support, and hospitality.
After pruning and trimming shrubs and trees, removing winter leaf litter, clearing out flower beds, and picking up litter, work stopped promptly at 11 a.m., and the Green Team adjourned to Helen Englehardt's home for a welcome refreshment break and socializing.

A big thank you to Helen for her hospitality, and kudos to our amazing, hardworking, dedicated volunteers and three young environmentalists: Natasha Amott, Elena Baron and her son, Alenya Becker, Myrna Becker, Stephanie Blackwood, Zach Cooley, Corrine Eckert-Chu, Josh Eckert-Chu, Marj Henning, Virginia Levie, Mario Malcolm, Janice Manning, Kim Platt, Lisa Ristorucci, Andy Rosenblum, Alex Ross, Veronica Shiroka, and Andi Zinn.
The next Green Team Saturday will be on June 6 at 9 a.m. All are welcome to participate.
