We’re thrilled to share that the South Midwood Pollinators have received a $2,500 grant from the City Parks Foundation to support the construction of tree guards to protect new street trees throughout our neighborhood!

This funding will help us launch a program to protect vulnerable street trees—many of which suffer from soil compaction, damage from vehicles, dog waste, and loss of healthy growing space. The new guards will safeguard our trees and enhance the look of South Midwood streets while supporting pollinator-friendly plantings in the tree pits.

Construction and installation of guards will begin in the coming months!

Stay tuned for opportunities to request a guard for a tree on your property, volunteer opportunities and updates as we roll out this exciting project!

The grant, provided by City Parks Foundation and Partnerships for Parks through the NYC Green Fund, marks an important step in the Pollinators broader effort to care for South Midwood’s urban canopy and ensure a greener, healthier neighborhood for years to come.

Thank you to the City Parks Foundation for their generous support—and to all our neighbors who continue to make South Midwood bloom.
