The South Midwood Pollinators believe every child deserves more nature in their neighborhood! And we are working to make that a reality on busy Foster Avenue, one block at a time.

  • Pruning damaged street trees

  • Building sturdy tree guards

  • Aerating and enriching the soil

  • Planting spring bulbs, native wildflowers and evergreen plants

  • Mulching and watering

Year Two of this multi year project is focused on Foster Avenue between E 21 street and E 22 Street. Volunteers are building seven new tree guards. And we will also be planting homegrown native wildflowers for the first time in addition to daffodil bulbs and evergreen perennials.

We invite everyone in our community to join us. Tools and gloves will be provided, or bring your own if you can.

This year, Phase Two of Foster Avenue Greenway is generously supported by a grant from the City Garden Clubs of New York City. Mulch donated by NYC Parks, native seeds by Greenbelt Nursery, daffodil bulbs by the Daffodil Project and compost from the Department of Sanitation.
